Checking in on protester lawsuits and Austin FC’s first season
By Kimberley Jones, 7:27PM, Fri. Oct. 8, 2021
On this week’s episode of The Austin Chronicle Show, reporter Brant Bingamon gives us an update on demonstrators injured at the Black Lives Matter protests in May 2020.
The controversial use of so-called “less lethal munitions” by police resulted in devastating injuries to some of the protesters that weekend. Brant’s been tracking the fallout – lasting physical and mental damage, a perceived reluctance on APD’s part to investigate and discipline offending officers, and the slow progress of criminal and civil cases.
In the second half of the program, Verde Report columnist Eric Goodman offers his thoughts on the good, the bad, and the better-luck-next-year of Austin FC‘s inaugural season.
